Chinese toys are very popular with the world

Oct 27, 2022

China's toy industry has matured after decades, and more than 70 percent of the products in the global toy market, China reported. Among them, India is one of the top ten countries in China's toy export, and also the key emerging market of China's toy export. In 2019, the national toys export to India is us $773 million; according to relevant statistics, Chinese toys still account for more than 75% of India's toy market share.

India has been committed to developing the toy industry in recent years, and this year it has promoted self-reliance by raising tariffs and revising toy standards. But at present, it seems that the domestic industry supporting, insufficient capacity, little effect.

Rajendra Sharma, chairman of the Teliwara (Toy Market Association) in New Delhi, said it is difficult to persuade customers to buy Indian toys because they are not as good as Chinese products. Sharma said: " At this rate (banning Chinese imports), special watt will be a market for farm tools. In fact, many of us are already thinking about reviving the old business of our agricultural tools."He added that at least currently most farm tools are made in India.

"People should do a simple experiment, walk around their house, see the different items, and check where they come from.(They will find that) Almost everything can be made in China, " concluded Mr.Kumar, secretary-general of the Small Business Owners Association in Delhi.

Not just toys, Bharat Ahuja (Bhagirath Palace), president of the —— Electrical Market Association (Bhagirath Palace), India's largest wholesale market for lamps, also said traders were so dependent on Chinese imports that stopping trade would paralyze the market."Before restricting imports, the government must largely promote manufacturing through the right policy measures. And the fact is that building and operating factories in India is still a difficult proposal."It is reported that 90 percent of the lights (from small LED bulbs to expensive chandeliers) on the Bajarat Palace market are imported from Guzhen Town in Zhongshan, Guangdong province, ——, the" lighting capital " in China. Small-scale Indian manufacturers do not have enough capital in lighting quality, variety and cost to challenge Chinese manufacturers.

Indian media analyzed data from the Ministry of Commerce: Chinese imports fell 14.5 percent to $65.26 billion in 2019 in 2017-2018, according to import and export data from the Ministry of Commerce. But even after a sharp drop in imports, India has most of its daily household goods coming from China. More than 50% of the products, such as footwear, knitted fabrics and furniture products, are imported from China. Further decomposition of annual import data shows that electromechanical equipment is the largest product category imported from China, accounting for about 30% of China's imports in 2019-2020. Meanwhile, calls for a reduction in China's imports have led to a drop in imports in recent years, with imports of certain items, such as lithium-ion batteries used, increasing by 100 percent in the past two years. Import data also show that more than 80% of India's lithium-ion batteries are bought from China.

Statistics show that Indian society's call for a total ban on imports from China will disrupt some of the Indian industrial and daily supplies and increase the cost of local business and living.
